Funeral services for Mrs. Glen (Edith K.) Derscheid, 87, Eagle Grove, were held on Tuesday, May 21,1985 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Reverend Scott C. Hall, church pastor, officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Monday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.

Edith Karine Derscheid, the daughter of Iver and Elsie Sampson Norem, was born on December 27, 1897 at Elliott, Ill. When she was a child, she moved with the Norem family to a farm near Vincent, Iowa where she grew up and received her education. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On December 1, 1919 she was united in marriage with Glen Derscheid at Eagle Grove. The couple lived and farmed in Troy Township for many years and retired and moved to Eagle Grove in 1955. Mr. Derscheid died in 1974. Edith was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church and the Troy Culture Club and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Derscheid died at her home in Eagle Grove on Saturday afternoon, May 18, 1985, after a brief illness. She attained the age of 87 years, four months and 21 days. She is survived by eight daughters: Mrs. Jean Dwiggins of Cedar Rapids; Jane, Mrs. Kenneth Spangler of Eagle Grove; Doris, Mrs. George Cole of Minneapolis, Minn.; Elsie, Mrs. Ed Ellsworth of Eagle Grove; Ramona, Mrs. Don Knudsen of Eagle Grove; Shirley, Mrs. Gerald Sunner of Milford; Beverly, Mrs. Rodney Knudsen of Humboldt; Kay, Mrs. Larry Wayman of Ankeny; two sons: Roger Derscheid of Eagle Grove and Allen Derscheid of Des Moines; two daughters-in-law: Mrs. Darlene Derscheid of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Roger (Mary) Derscheid of rural Eagle Grove; 32 grandchildren; 22-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Lawrence Norem of Granada, Minn, and Elwood Norem of Crystal Lake, Minn.; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, Einar, James and Max and infant twin daughters, Margaret and Mildred; three brothers and three sisters.
