Funeral services for Glenn Derscheid were held Friday afternoon in the United Methodist Church. Mr. Derscheid, 81, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday evening following a brief illness. Mr. and Mrs. Derscheid had returned the same afternoon from a visit with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wayman in Ankeny. Rev. Donald Glazier had charge of the services and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery where military rites were conducted by Clarence Shultz Post. Masonic services were held at the Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home Thursday evening.

Mr. Derscheid is survived by his wife, two sons, and eight daughters: Roger of Eagle Grove; Allen of Forest City; Mrs. Kenneth Spangler, Mrs. Ed Ellsworth and Mrs. Donald Knudsen, Eagle Grove; Mrs. E. L. Dwiggins, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. George Cole, Minneapolis; Mrs. Gerald Sunner, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Rodney Knudsen, Humboldt; and Mrs. Larry Wayman, Ankeny. Other survivors include 32 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three sisters.

He was a 50 year member of the American Legion, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the United Methodist Church. He served in World War One. He was preceded in death by three sons, Einar, James, and Max and by twin daughters who died at birth.

Masonic services were held Thursday evening at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Funeral services were held Friday, July 19 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Glazier officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Glen Allen Derscheid was born April 15, 1893 at Eagle Grove. He was the son of Henry and Mary Emerick Derscheid and was educated in Eagle Grove Schools. He was united in marriage to Edith Norem on Dec. 1, 1919 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Mr. Derscheid farmed near Eagle Grove for many years and moved into Eagle Grove in 1955. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Roger of Eagle Grove and Glen Allan Jr. of Forest City; eight daughters: Jean, Mrs. E. L. Dwiggins of Cedar Rapids; Jane, Mrs. Kenneth Spangler, Eagle Grove; Doris, Mrs. George Cole, Minneapolis, Minn.; Elsie, Mrs. Ed Ellsworth, Eagle Grove; Ramona, Mrs. Don Knudsen, Eagle Grove; Shirley, Mrs. Gerald Sunner, Fort Dodge; Beverly, Mrs. Rodney Knudsen, Humboldt; Kay, Mrs. Larry Wayman, Ankeny; 32 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also two brothers, Harley and Robert of Eagle Grove; three sisters, Esther and Pearl Derscheid of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Helen Orth, Iowa City.
