MESERVEY -- Julane Avon Boelman, 81, of Meservey died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a one hour prior visitation on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at First Reformed Church, 620 Second St., Meservey. The Rev. Rod Meester will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Meservey Cemetery.
Julane was born on Jan. 7, 1933, in Belmond to Walter and Vera Gaffri. She attended school and graduated in Belmond. Julane met the love of her life, Norman, through mutual friends. They were united in marriage on Dec. 19, 1951, at the Belmond Methodist Church parsonage. They spent 62 years together. To their union two daughters were born. Julane spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was always there when her daughters came home from school.
In their younger years Julane and her husband enjoyed going for motorcycle rides and taking trips. Julane also liked gambling for fun. She went to the casino in Tama where she won big several times. In her free time she enjoyed talking with family and friends. The holidays were always a special occasion and she spent a lot of time preparing for family gatherings. Julane's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very excited to have another great-grandchild on the way.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Deb Robertson of Clear Lake and Darla (Raymond) Haag of Mason City; grandchildren, Jason (Kristin) Robertson and their children, Braden, Devon and Ashlyn; Christopher (Hannah) Robertson and their son, Camden; Matthew (Danielle) Haag and their children, Tanner, Mya, Blaiden and Braelin; Callie (Adam) Lichman and their baby due March 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Fullerton Funeral Home, Mason City, IA.
