Mrs. E. C. Kraft

Failing health for several years and a serious illness with heart trouble for the past several months resulted in the death of Mrs. E. C. Kraft at her home in Renwick last week Wednesday morning.

Anna Wilhelmina Holck was born July 13, 1870, in Holstein, Germany, and passed away June 3, 1931, at the age of sixty years, ten months and twenty days. In 1882 she emigrated to America with her parents locating in Scott county, Iowa. Seven years later the family moved to Wright county and on February 6, 1895, she was united in marriage to E. C. Kraft. They made their home on a farm north of Renwick, on which farm they lived for thirty years. In the spring of 1925 they moved to town where she spent her remaining days. Twelve children were born to this union, of which ten survive, Mrs. Marie Kubly, Mrs. Emma Kubly, Mrs. Anna Blumer, Henry, Fred, Arthur, Ernest, Mrs. Doris Frederikson, George and Irma. The children preceding the mother in death were a son who died in 1909 and a daughter, Clara in 1925.

Mrs. Kraft was baptized in the Lutheran church as a child and later was confirmed. She was an active member of the ladies aid of the church. The life of Mrs. Kraft was beset with many trials and hardships, but she bore with remarkable cheerfulness and patience the discomforts and sorrows that fell to her lot. To the task of rearing a large family, the brunt of which burden always falls to the mother, she gave her all. She is survived by her husband, ten children, two sisters, six brothers, fifteen grandchildren and a large circle of more distant relatives.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church, the pastor, Rev. Geo. F. Dirks, delivering the sermon. Burial was made at Elmwood Cemetery.
