Miss Sharon R. Bolie, age 65, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014, at the Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, August 23, at 10:30am, at the New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Orange City. The Rev. Jeffrey Whitt, the Rev. Nicholas Koenig, and the Rev. Daniel Krause will officiate. Interment will be at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Sharon Ruth was born on August 29, 1948, in Burt, the daughter of Faye Marion and Violet Beulah (Scearce) Bolie. She graduated from high school in Eagle Grove in 1966. She then attended the Bernel Hair Styling College in Fort Dodge. She lived in various communities, including Austin, Minnesota, Bozeman, Montana, and Chicago, Illinois. She held a variety of positions, such as a beautician, a daycare worker, and a nanny. In 2006, she moved to Orange City to care for her mother. She became a resident of Touchstone on August 8 of this year. Miss Bolie was a member of the New Hope Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed collecting many things. She served as a foster grandparent at the MOC-Floyd Valley Elementary for one year and the Orange City Christian School for four years.
Survivors include her mother, “Vi”, of Orange City; two sisters, Mary Diane Thorndyke, of Orange City; and Delores Kliever, of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Mark and Tammy Bolie, of Orange City; three nephews, Chad Kliever, and his wife, Mandy; Nicholas Kliever; and Jonathan Bolie; and eight great nephews and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her father and a nephew, Samuel Eugene Thorndyke.
