Stephen Clyde Culmer of Spring Hill, TN, passed away on August 17, 2014 at Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN, after a nine month battle with cancer. Stephen (Steve) Culmer was born March 21, 1947 to Clyde and Ione (Calkins) Culmer of Woolstock, IA. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1966. He served in the US Air Force with one term at Phuket Air Force Base in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge in 1970. He was united in marriage to Donna Mae Umthun at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove on May 25, 1974. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Cecelia Ann. He is survived by his wife Donna; son Jeff (Patti), Spring Hill, TN; sisters, Nancy (Steve) Whitaker, Ankeny, IA; Sue (Phil) Grove, Van Meter, IA; brother Dan (Karen), Worsley, Alberta, Canada; grandchildren Sophia and Ethan Culmer; and ten nieces and nephews. Services are scheduled September 2, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, TN. The family will also gather at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, IA. on September 5, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. for a memorial service.
