July 4, 1926 --- August 26, 2014

Mrs. Violet Bolie, age 88, of Orange City, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, August 30, at 2:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Daniel Krause will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be the hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Violet Beulah was born on July 4, 1926, in Anderson, Missouri, the daughter of Bennie Oliver and Stella Alice (McGuire) Scearce. She was raised at Butler, where she attended high school. On November 10, 1946, she married Faye Marion Bolie in Algona. For many years, they made their home in Eagle Grove, where she was a homemaker. In 1966, they moved to the Beaman-Conrad area, and in 1971, they moved to Orange City. She was employed at K-Products in Orange City for more than 25 years. She also served as a Foster Grandparent for thirteen years. Faye passed away on December 5, 1996, in Orange City, after more than fifty years of marriage.

On May 10, 2013, Mrs. Bolie became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City, transferring to Prairie Ridge this past fall. She was a member of the Rock Solid Assembly of God in Le Mars, where she taught Sunday school classes and led children’s church. She enjoyed reading and watching Gathier videos.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Diane Thorndyke, of Orange City; and Delores Kliever, of Sioux City; her son and his wife, Mark and Tammy Bolie, of Orange City; three grandchildren, Chad Kliever, and his wife, Mandy; Nicholas Kliever; and Jonathan Bolie; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Frances) Scearce; and a sister, Christine Barlow. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Bolie, just a week earlier, a grandson, Samuel Eugene Thorndyke; a brother, Richard Scearce; and a sister, Doris Ellen Trosper.
