Mrs. Ellen K. Sampson Died February 16

Mrs. Ellen K. Sampson, 98, Roland, died at Story City Hospital on Friday morning following an illness of one year. Born Dec. 23, 1875 south of Roland, her parents were John and Anna Twedt. On May 27, 1896, she married Tom I. Sampson who died Aug. 6, 1963. She was a resident of the Roland community with the exception of a few years spent in Eagle Grove. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sanford Olson of Roland; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Rutherford of Los Angeles, Calif. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three children, three grandchildren, one great great grandchild, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held Monday at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland with Rev. Howard Lybeck officiating. Burial was in the Roland Cemetery.
