Mrs. Christina Kelling

Christina Miller, daughter of George and Margaret Miller, was born April 20, 1877, in a territory of Schleswig, Holstein. She was baptized in the Lutheran church. When she was six years old, Mrs. Kelling came with her parents to Davenport, Iowa, where she was affiliated with the Lutheran church. She attended the grade school in Davenport and later moved to a farm in Boone township. On December 4, 1896, Christina Miller and George H. Kelling were married. God blessed this union with nine children. The couple started farming at the present farm home near Renwick, where Mrs. Kelling spent 52 years of her life.

Mrs. Kelling passed from this home which she loved Tuesday morning, March 29 after a long illness. During this time she was lovingly cared for by her children and her sisters. Mrs. Kelling was a gentle woman and a loving mother, who for more than 70 years was a living example of goodness and kindness. Her husband preceded her in death in August of 1941. A son Merle, also preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons, Carl, James and Floyd of Renwick, Roy at home and Andy of Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Mrs. Grace Hanson of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Ethel Steel of Wheatland and Mrs. Lucy McCloud of Des Moines. Peter Miller, a brother, of Waubun, Minn; four sisters including Mrs. Maggie Schueler of Ceylon, Minn., Mrs. Minnie Thiel of St. Peter, Minn., and Miss Lena Miller of Waubun, Minn., 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives are also survivors.

Services were 1:15 p. m. at the home and at 2 p. m. at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Renwick March 31. Mr. and Mrs. John Zimmerman sang hymns accompanied by Miss. Martha Elmer, Rev. H. L. Sunderman conducted the service. Terry Mitchell, Keith McCurry, Ellis McCurry, Carl Flemming, Donald Bjornson and James McGowan were pallbearers. Mrs. Enfred Pearson, Mrs. Ed Anderson and Mrs. Henry Bloom were on the flower committee. Burial was made at the Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield with Breenen Funeral services in charge of arrangements.
