August 22, 1910 --- May 21, 1992

Samuel Richard Bruce, 81, of 725 Fifth St., West Des Moines, died of pneumonia Thursday at Iowa Methodist Center. The body will be cremated and memorial services will be at 11 am Saturday at Central Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Burial of the cremains will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Mr. Bruce was born in Eagle Grove and lived in the Des Moines area for 47 years. He was a retired traffic supervisor for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Iowa Falls Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, two sons, Richard of Columbus, Ind., and David of Burnsville, Minn.; a daughter, Mary Bruce of Iowa City; a brother, James Bruce of Friday Harbor, Wash.; and six grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to his church. Arrangements are being handled by McLaren's Funeral Home in West Des Moines.
