Roger C. Fulks was born July 6, 1940. He passed away Jan. 5, 2000, after a long illness, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, at the age of 59. Roger had been an electrical designer for 30 years, working for several large corporations during his career. After moving to Chariton, he worked for Astoria Industries and had helped at the Lakeview Golf Course in Chariton. Roger was a kind, soft-spoken, gentle man, who enjoyed his family. He had been active in the Dubuque Iowa Drum and Bugle Corps for many years.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Fulks. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Peggy (Morgan) Fulks; his mother, Alice Fulks, [nee Alice Grace Stupka] of Eagle Grove, Iowa; six children, daughters, Liberty Tupper of Ottumwa and Tracy Jones of Cedar Rapids; sons, Shane Barone of Hutchinson, Kan., Andy Fulks of Louisville, Ken., Buck Conway of Jasper, Mo., and Rod Conway of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Dan Fulks of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and sisters, Marilyn Sampson of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Sandi Backus of Denver, Colo., Judy Meyers of Denver, Colo., and Sue Powassin of Canada and ten grandchildren. Roger will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation with the family was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Mosher Funeral Home in Chariton, with a private burial at the Russell Cemetery following the visitation. Muffy Tonelli, of Russell, read poems and led The Lord's Prayer. The song, "I Will Always Love You," by Whitney Houston, was played at the graveside service. Roger's daughter, Tracy Jones, read a poem and scriptures were read by one of Roger's sisters.
