Jennie L. (Cowan) Wittenburg died at the Douglas hospital Friday night (May 10, 1935) following a major operation. Jennie L. Cowan was born near Norfolk, St. Lawrence County, New York on May 5, 1888, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cowan. The family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa in 1892 and to Guernsey, Wyoming in 1900. In 1901 the family came to Douglas, which had since been her home. On March 12, 1928, she married John F. Wittenburg and they made their home on his ranch north of Douglas until his death in September, 1931. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary E. Cowan, and two brothers, J. Frank Cowan of Casper and William L. Cowan of Independence, Mo.
