Marian I. Amosson, 89, of Goldfield, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003. She was a resident of Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove. Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, at the United Presbyterian Chruch in Goldfield with the Rev. Paul Stone of Wright County Hospice officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.

Marian I. Amosson was born on October 9, 1914, on the family farm near Renwick, the daughter of James and Jessie (Young) McGowan. For six years she attended country school. She graduated from Renwick High School in 1933. In 1935, Marian attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. In 1940 she married Rudy Amosson. They lived on a farm at Dows until 1951 when the returned to the farm where they lived 43 years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield and was a charter member of the So Sew Club and Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her four children, Roberta Williams and her husband, Dean of Spirit Lake; Judy Gleason and her husband, Dean of Denver; Jan Tjaden of Tipton and Randy Amosson and wife Christine of Tipton; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, three sisters and her husband, Rudy. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
