October 11, 1924 --- April 8, 2005

Lloyd M. Hanson, 80, of Eagle Grove, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services were held at 11:30 am on Monday, April 11, 2005, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Paul Stone officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lloyd Marvin Hanson was born October 11, 1924, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Leonhard B. and Matilda (Reikaras) Hanson. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1943. He served in the United States Navy, Gunner's Mate Second Class, during World War II. He entered the service on June 11, 1943 and was honorably discharged on March 20, 1946. On September 4,1946, he married Lois M. Derscheid at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Lloyd was a lifelong Eagle Grove resident and was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bower Lodge, Medina Council, Eagle Chapter, and Order of Eastern Star -- all of Eagle Grove. He also belonged to ML Lebanon Commandery, Clarion; Red Cross of Constantine, the Iowa Fireman's Association, and was a 53 year member of the Eagle Grove Fire Department.

He was survived by his wife, Lois, of Eagle Grove, daughters Janice Grandgeorge and her husband, Gary, of Eagle Grove; Susan Borne, and her husband, Alan, of Shreveport, La.; grandchildren: Jennifer Grandgeorge, of Eagle Grove; Jeff Grandgeorge, and his wife, Kelly, of Eagle Grove; Jodi McKee, and her husband, David, of Lenexa, KS; Chris Borne, of Shreveport, La.; and Cathy Borne, of Shreveport, La.; great-grandchildren: Darm and Cole Grandgeorge, of Eagle Grove, and Connor McKee, of Lenexa, KS; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Orvel Hanson, and a sister LaVonne Hall. The Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
