Joseph Frederick Asche was born on August 26, 1929, to Angle and Alice Omvig Asche at Kanawha, Iowa. The family then moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where he attended school, graduating in the Class of 1949. He was united in marriage to Leola Reed on November 12, 1949, at Eagle Grove. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1999. He was employed by I.P.S. for 42 years, the MidAmerican Energy until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Eagle Grove, a 50-year member of the Eagle Grove Fire Department, Wright County Fireman's Association, charter member of the Eagle Grove Jaycees, charter member of the Eagle Grove Sportsman's Club, and a 50-year member of the I B.E.W. Electrical Union.

Joseph "Joe" F. Asche died Monday, March 12, at his home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife, Leola, Eagle Grove; two sons, Todd, and his wife, Kathie, Grimes, Iowa, and Steven, and his wife, Melia, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Debra Farwell, and her husband, Greg, Eagle Grove, and Jane Williamson, and her husband, Raymond, Eagle Grove; eight grandchildren; 12 sisters and brothers, Mary Henningsen, Clear Lake, Iowa, Don Asche, and his wife, Dora, Eagle Grove, Kenneth Asche, Clarion, Mildred Reed, Eagle Grove, Alice Jean Lessmeier, and husband, Harold, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Richard Asche, and his wife, Janis, Clarion, Ronald Asche, and his wife, Fran, Caldwell, Idaho, Lawrence Asche, and his wife Amy, Eagle Grove, Robert Asche and his wife Judy, Eagle Grove, Linda Asche, Eagle Grove, John Asche, and his wife, Cindy, Eagle Grove, Terry Asche, and his wife, Vicky Arne, Eagle Grove; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Edward. Services were held Thursday, March 15, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend William E. Ballard officiating. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
