C. A. Hendryx Funeral Held at Eagle Grove

EAGLE GROVE, May 31 — Short funeral services for C. A. Hendryx were held at his residence Thursday morning, in charge of the Rev. Floyd D. Reeves of the Congregational church. The arrangements were in charge of Kubitschek and Kastler and the members of the American Legion attended in a body. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge. The body was taken to Williamsburg where he formerly lived, for burial.

CHARLES HENDRYX, Former Business Man of Williamsburg Passed Away Monday at His Home in Eagle Grove

Mr. Charles Hendryx died at his home in Eagle Grove Monday evening after a short illness. The news of his death was sent to Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Jones, parents of Mrs. Hendryx. The deceased came to Williamsburg many years ago where he was associated with W. E. Schroeder in the bakery and restaurant business. A few years ago, he sold his interests here and moved to Red Oak, at which place he was in business until about a year ago when he moved to Eagle Grove where he was at once recognized as a first-class business man. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

A Father Suicides as daughter graduates

Monday night C. A. Hendryx, proprietor of a cafe at Eagle Grove, committed suicide in bed while his daughter was receiving graduating honors. He was 60 years of age.

Eagle Grove Man Kills himself While Daughter Attends Commencement

Eagle Grove - May 28 - C. A. Hendryx, 60, was found dead with a bullet wound near his heart by his wife and two step-daughters about 10 o'clock last night on their return home from the high school commencement exercises where one of the girls had been graduated. Hendryx, who was found lying in his bed, has been in very poor health for a long time and is thought to have committed suicide. The time of his death was set at about 9 o'clock by physicians. He had been manager of the Johnson Restaurant here for the past year. Before that the family lived at Radcliffe. Mrs. Hendryx and the two stepdaughters, Grayce and Esther survive. No funeral arrangements have been made.
