Former Eagle Grove Man Is Laid to Rest

EAGLE GROVE, April 30 — Funeral service for Charles Haukole, who died at Tucson, Ariz., were held on Saturday at the funeral parlors of Kubitschek & Kastler, and burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery. The service was in charge of the Rev. F. D. Reeves of the Congregational church, and a male quartet from the church furnished the music. Mr. Haukole had been in secretarial work the greater part of his life, and at one time held the position of private secretary to the president of the Baltimore & Ohio railway, but was obliged to give it up on account of falling health. His father, Charles Haukole, a well-known Northwestern locomotive engineer, died about 10 years ago. He leaves his stepmother in this city, and a half sister, Mrs. Elling Weeks, in Milwaukee Wis. He was 41 years of age.

Charles Haukole was born in Eagle Grove on October 12, 1887 and died at Tucson. Ariz., April 24, 1928. He was the son of Charles and Mrs. Shea Haukole. He spent his early life in this community and graduated from the Eagle Grove high school with the class of 1905. He attended business college at Manitowoc, Wis., and held various secretarial positions in Kenosha and Waukesha. He then returned to Manitowoc as court reporter to the Judge or the circuit court. After five years as court reporter he became private secretary to the president of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad. In 1914 he went to Canon City, Colo., hoping to benefit his health and remained there until October, 1820, when he went to Tucson.

He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Ada Haukole Weeks and his stepmother, Mrs. Mary Haukole. Burial services were held in the Kubitechek & Kastler undertaking parlors Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Floyd D. Reeves having charge of the services. The Masonic funeral service at the grave was conducted by O. M. Worrel. Interment was by the side of his mother in Rose Hill cemetery.
