James Henry Rasmussen
January 16, 1931 ---- May 23, 2014

Jim Rasmussen, 83, a resident of Elkton, departed this life to join his Lord on Friday, May 23, 2014. Jim was born on January 16, 1931 in Goldfield, Iowa, and was the son of the late Anton and Mabel J. Rasmussen. He attended St. Louis University, where he earned both his B.S. and Master's degrees in Meteorology and Applied Geophysics. Jim served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Jim was employed for 31 years at CIA in McLean, VA, where he excelled as an analyst and in training younger analysts. Jim also served as a pastor at Agape Christian Fellowship in Fairfax, VA, where his research skills were applied to Bible teaching and studies. His passion was serving the Lord in nurturing young believers and working with small groups. After moving to Elkton in 1989, Jim was a member of Faith Alive Fellowship in Elkton and Cornerstone Church in Harrisonburg.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Jeanette "Jan" Courtney Rasmussen; his daughters, Kathy Bowden and husband, Karl, of Camden, NC, Linda Guenther and husband, Paul, of Elkton, and Connie Edwards and husband, Thomas, of Xenia, OH; his grandchildren, Miranda VanBoven and David, Kim Mulford and Sean, Jeanette Walczak and Stanley, Nathaniel Dean and Juliana, Andrew Bowden and Hannah Joy, Abigail Ribecky and Eric, Rebecca Cook and Brandon, Cristina Bogart, Jonah Guenther, Sara Bowden, and Colin Luna; his great-grandchildren, Hannah and Carson Walczak; Naomi and Amaris Hutslar; Samuel, Sophia, and Karis Mulford, Melody Bowden, Alizah and Kaenan Cook; James and Charlotte Ribecky; and Richard Beatty and Damian Kepler.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Alive Fellowship on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 12:30 pm, with Pastor Don R. Meadows officiating. Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg is handling arrangements.
