Lincoln Franklin Bruess was born on June 11, 1926 to Frank and Ana (Rosenau) Bruess in St. Paul, Minnesota. Lincoln attended school in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota where he graduated in 1945 and shortly thereafter began working for the Chicago and North Western Railway Company where he would spend the rest of his career until his retirement in 1988. On August 6, 1960 he married Frieda Schleisner at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Springfield, Minnesota until they moved to Goldfield, Iowa in 1976. In 2006, Lincoln moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota and to New Hope, Minnesota in 2013 where he passed from this life on Monday, May 12, 2014 at age 87.

During his lifetime, Lincoln enjoyed various hobbies and activities including baseball, fishing, hunting, gardening, supporting his sons and their Goldfield Indian sports teams and a cup of coffee and conversation with his friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his three sons, David and his wife Tracy of Blaine, MN, Donn and his wife Laura of Cedar Falls, IA and Doug and his wife Judith of McKinney, TX, and his grandchildren, Madison MacDonald, Joel Bruess, Joshua Bruess, Keegan Bruess and Athena Bruess and great granddaughters, Trinity MacDonald and Halle MacDonald. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Elizabeth, his infant son, Dean and his wife, Frieda in 2001.
