She was also employed as a waitress in a cafe in Sheffield and as a seasonal worker for nine years with Sukup Manufacturing.

Later Mary Lou married Richard Schmidt and lived in Latimer. After his death, Mary Lou married Glenn Siefkes and they made their home in Kimberling City and Apache Junction. Mary Lou loved to play cards, dance, read, sing, listen to music, and visit with friends and family. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids participate in their sporting and musical activities.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands; son Alan; brother Richard; and sister Margaret. Mary Lou is survived by her husband Glenn Siefkes; children Barbara Brown of Las Vegas, NV, Jerry (Sue) Pals of Crystal, MN, and Mick (Terri) Pals of Sheffield; grandchildren Tim (P.A.)
