Ronald Eugene Hinz “Red,” the son of J. D. and AnnaBelle (Miller) Hinz, was born on August 21, 1954, in Cheyenne, Wyo. He was raised and educated in many places as his father was serving in the military but the family moved to Eagle Grove in 1972, and he graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1973. He served in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic until his Honorable Discharge in April of 1974. On February 7, 1976, Ron was united in marriage with Wilma Gross and the couple made their home in Eagle Grove. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Umthun and Decker Trucking, and for Giese Construction and DeCoster Farms.

Ron passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, at the age of 59 years. He was preceded in death by his father, J. D. ; grandparents; and mother-in-law. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Hinz of Eagle Grove; three daughters, Donette Tilley (Derek) of Stratford, Abbii Barkhaus (Dan) of Eagle Grove, and Lissa Hinz (Travis Snider) of Eagle Grove; mother, AnnaBelle Hinz of Eagle Grove; brothers, Brian Hinz (Julie) of Eagle Grove, Gareld Hinz (Daphne) of Panama City, Fla., and Tim Pierce (Eileen) of Cape Girardeau, Mo. grandchildren: Damon, Emilee, Samantha, Hannah, Logan and Phranki; and numerous nieces and nephews. Monetary contributions may be left to the family and would be greatly appreciated.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, May 8, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove is in charge of arrangements.
