Wilda Hurshman
March 14, 1921 ---- April 15, 2014

Wilda Pearl Hurshman was born to William and Clara McCutcheon March 14, 1921, in Goldfield, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Goldfield with her three sisters, and after high school there, she went on to earn a B.A. Degree from Iowa State Teachers College. After teaching business classes in Manson and then Eagle Grove, Iowa, she then moved to Denver, Colorado in 1956, where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Cecil Hurshman. After raising her two sons, Thomas and Stephen, she returned to the workforce, first as a legal secretary, and then as secretary to the Dean at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. In 1984, Charles and Wilda retired, and moved to Grand Junction, CO, where they spent many happy years participating in the active lives of their children and grandchildren, volunteering in many positions at their church, and spending many months traveling in their motor home throughout the continental U.S. and Canada.
Wilda spent many hours on her crafts, including needlepoint, crocheting, and knitting, and she and Charles spent countless hours doing stained glass projects. They thoroughly enjoyed camping in their motorhome, and fished every chance they had. They could always be found at the concerts of their musically talented grandkids, as well as watching them compete at swimming races, cross country races, baseball games, tennis matches, etc.

Wilda is survived by her husband, Charles; sons, Thomas William (Jennifer) of Montrose, CO, and Stephen Charles (Janae) of Grand Junction, CO; grandsons, Derek, Jeremy, Danny, and Randy, and one granddaughter, Amy. Also surviving are two sisters, Barbara Duitscher of Clear Lake, IA, and Norma Jean Krebs of Ankeny, IA. Wilda was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Ruth. Per her request, Wilda was cremated at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at First Congregational Church in Grand Junction. Memorial contributions may be made in Wilda's name to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO 81506.
