Beverly Sims, age 80, Erwin, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at her residence. Beverly was born September 25, 1933 on the farm at Dows, IA, a daughter of Orville and Anna Ahrends. Her childhood was spent living on the farm and attending country school, Lincoln # 6, in rural Clarion, IA, where her family had moved. Beverly was a member of Wright Co. 4-H. The family was involved with horse activities and rode with the local saddle club during the summer. She was confirmed at the Congregational Church in Galt, IA. After 8th grade she attended Clarion High School until the family moved to the Dows School district her junior year and then she graduated in 1951. Beverly furthered her education at the University of Iowa where she earned her Bachelor of Nursing degree. She met her future husband, Paul Sims at the U and I and they lived in various parts of the country, such as, Fairfield, IA, Louisville, KY, Greensboro, NC and Erwin, TN. Beverly worked at various jobs and eventually became a stay at home mom. To this marriage a daughter was born. They were licensed foster home parents and later got an infant boy whom they adopted.

Beverly was recently diagnosed with cancer of the spine and died in her home under the care of her devoted son Charlie and finacé Maggie, on Sunday, April 6, 2014. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death her husband: Paul Sims; Daughter: Patricia Wynn Wilson; Step-mother: Dorothy Ahrends; Brother: Arthur Ahrends; Sister: Audrey Ahrends Erickson. Beverly is survived by her son, Charlie and his beloved finacé Maggie; Son-in-law: Michael Wilson of Erwin; Two Sisters: Mary Louise Swanson and Elizabeth Lyons, both of Clarion, IA; Numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

The family request the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Beverly Ann Sims in a memorial service to be at 7:00PM Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home with Rev.
