August 4, 1941 --- April 12, 2014

Eleanor Elizabeth (Rockwood) Stephens, the daughter of Wilder and Ardis (Godfrey) Rockwood and identical twin sister to Ardis Elaine, was born August 4, 1941, in Renwick, Iowa. She was raised and educated in LuVerne, graduating from LuVerne High School in 1959 and then attended Iowa State University studying Home Economics. On March 27, 1966, Eleanor was united in marriage with Dan Stephens at the Methodist Church in LuVerne. They lived in Goldfield, Eagle Grove, Mason City, Granger and settled in Slater where they made their home and raised two daughters. Eleanor worked for DeeZee Manufacturing in Ankeny and after they both had retired in 1999, they moved back to Goldfield. Eleanor lived a very crafty, creative and artistic life. She was a talented decorator, quilter, seamstress, ice sculptor, cake decorator and scrapbooker. The themed Christmas's, handmade gifts and extreme decorating for holidays and events will always be remembered. Eleanor passed on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Clarion Wellness and Rehab Center, at the age of 72 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Dean Stephens.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Stephens of Goldfield, daughters, Martha Huddleston and husband Chad of Webster City and Carmen Jones and husband Travis of Goldfield; grandchildren, Zachary and Carly Jones and twin sister, Elaine Briggs and husband Jerry of Norwalk. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield with Pastor James Kvale officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield. Burial will be in the LuVerne Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Diabetes Foundation or in care of Carmen Jones summer festival @ Security Saving Bank in Goldfield for Fountain City Days.
