Frank Mast Elliott, 70, of Lake Park, died Friday, April 17, 1998 in his home after a long illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Westminster Church in Worthington, Minn. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Ottumwa, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at Turner Funeral Home in Lake Park and 6 to 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park.

Rev. Elliott was born May 16, 1927, in Ottumwa, the son of Wilson Dalrymple and Margaret Eleanor (Mast) Elliott. He attended Lincoln Grade School and Washington Junior High School, graduating from Ottumwa High School in 1946. He served with the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan from 1946 to 1947, and during the Korean War from 1950 to 1951, receiving the Combat Infantry Badge and two Honorable Discharges. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1952 and taught Agriculture at West Branch, Iowa from 1952 to 1954. He married Anona Alice Rensink of Boyden, Iowa, June 12, 1953.

He received a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1957 and a Masters of Sacred Theology degree in 1976 from Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. In 1984, he received a Doctorate of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. He served as pastor of the following churches: Beulah Presbyterian Church in Orion, Ill. from 1956 to 1960; Range Line Community Presbyterian Church in Hebron, Ind. from 1960 to 1964; First Presbyterian Church in Mishawaka, Ind. from 1964 to 1968; United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, Iowa from 1968 to 1973; Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, Iowa from 1973 to 1982; and First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park from 1982 to 1989. He also served as interim pastor at Alta, Iowa, Odebolt, Iowa, and Round Lake, Minn. from 1989 to 1991. He was a member of the Presbytery of Minnesota Valleys Presbytery, having served on the Presbytery Council for six years. Before that he was part of Prospect Hill Presbytery, serving in many capacities, including Moderator of the Presbytery. He had received the Herbert Manning Award for Parish Ministry from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and was honored as Pastor Emeritus of First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park in 1997. The couple worked in Wee Kirk Conferences for over 10 years, taking high school students on mission tours to New Mexico and Arizona. They also served as missionaries in Nigeria, Africa and Guatemala.

He enjoyed traveling, reading and canoeing. He was a member of the Worthington Turkey Trotters Square Dance Club. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Marcia Delle Elliott of Lincoln, Neb., Charissa and her husband, Dan Shaffer, of Sanborn, Iowa, Lila and her husband, Les Sybesma, of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Francine and her husband, Scott Lewison, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; six grandchildren, Sarah and Nicholas Shaffer, Heidi, Jennifer, and Cassandra Sybesma, and Megan Lewison; a brother, William Dall Elliott of Corpus Christi, Texas; a sister, Mary Hickman of McAllen, Texas; and his mother-in-law, Iva Rensink. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Leonard Rensink.
