December 10, 1896 --- March 6, 1982

Funeral services for Mrs. Earl (Laura) Schenck, 85, of Humboldt, were held Monday morning at the Humboldt United Methodist Church, with Dr. Ralph Kitterman officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery. She died at her home Saturday morning. Casketbearers were Deann Hirsch, Roger Wilson, Renee Wilson, Gary Wilson, Terry Hirsch, and Bob Blome. Special music was sung by Mrs. Scott Mason, accompanied by organist Mrs. Keith Bayers. Mrs. Elmer Dean, Mrs. Ella Jensen, and Mrs. Esther Hoopingarner were in charge of flowers. Perry Morse ushered. She is survived by her husband, Earl; daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Erlen) Wilson of Farmhamville and Mrs. Arlen (Joan) Hirsch of Paton; 9 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Art (Florence) White of Mason City.

Laura Marie Koppe was born Dec. 10, 1896, to William and Louise Kirchhof Koppe, in Beaver Township of Humboldt County. She was educated in the rural schools and graduated from Dakota City High School. She married Earl Schenck at Breckenridge, Minn., on April 15, 1920. The couple farmed in Minnesota for a while, moving to Fort Dodge and then to Humboldt County, where they farmed for many years. They moved from the farm in 1960 and have made their home in Humboldt. Mrs. Schenck was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
