Funeral services for J. Earl Schenck, 91, of Humboldt were held Monday morning, June 16, at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, with burial in Union Cemetery. He died Friday, June 13, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. The Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Richard Kretzschmar officiating. Casketbearers were Deann Royce, Renee Wilson, Terry Hirsch, Roger Wilson, Gary Wilson, and Gwen Benham. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Earlene) Wilson of Farnhamville and Mrs. Arlen (Joan) Hirsch of Paton; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Laura in 1982.

Joseph Earl Schenck, son of Fred and Florence (Davis) Schenck, was born April 3, 1895, at Vina, CA. He was reared and educated in Dakota City, where he graduated from the Red Brick School. He attended a mechanics school at Fort Dodge and worked in that trade until he began to farm. On April 15, 1920, he was united in marriage to Laura Koppe and they lived in Minnesota, then Fort Dodge, then farmed in Humboldt County for many years. In 1960 he retired and they moved to Humboldt. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Humboldt, where he taught Sunday School and held various church offices throughout the years.
