Florence Emily Davis, daughter of Joseph and Diana [Ellithorpe] Davis, was born at Dakota City, Iowa, July 24, 1865. She grew to womanhood in the city ot her birth and entered the calling of teaching school and for four years she engaged in that profession. In August, 1889 she was married to Fred Schenck of Dakota City and the following month they moved to the state of California where they lived until August 9, 1895, when her husband died. Mrs. Schenk then returned to the town where she was born. She served as postmistress of Dakota City for eight years. In May, 1911 she was united in marriage to William Koppe. Mrs. Robert Sayers, her sister, entered the great beyond last February, 1937. Mrs. Koppe followed her Tuesday morning, April 27, 1937. Besides her husband, William Koppe of Dakota City, she is survived by her two sons, Fred D. Schenck of Los Angeles, Calif., J. Earl Schenck of Goldfield, Iowa, and her stepchildren, Harry Koppe and Edwin Koppe of Humboldt, Mrs. Luella Locke of Dakota City, Mrs. Florence White of Des Moines, and Mrs. Laura Schenck of Goldfield, and eleven grandchildren. Mrs. Koppe joined the Methodist church of Humboldt, Iowa, in March, 1908, and she was a faithful and useful member all these years. She possessed the art of winning friends and influencing people to do right.

On a recent Sunday afternoon her pastor, the Rev. Harry M. Burns, administered the sacrament of the Lord's Supper in her home and she cordially invited all present to join with her in observing the holy communion. Proving again the policy of her life that she wanted her friends and guests to share with her the beautiful and helpful things of life. She like the Apostle Paul could look into the burial place that waited her and say, "O grave where is thy victory?" And how true another saying of the great apostle was to her: "Not even death could separate her from the love of God". Mrs. Koppe was indeed a devout Christian and her personality radiated the light of Him who came to be a light to all people. She was devoted to those of her household. And friends and neighbors join with the family today in this tribute of love and respect to one that lived for others.
