April 4, 1927 --- June 17, 2010

Doris Lucille Kienholz, born April 4, 1927 to her parents, Bertel G. and Blanche (Olson) Berkeland at Fenton, Iowa passed on to Glory with her personal Saviour, Jesus Christ, June 17, 2010 at the age of 83 years. She leaves behind husband, Oliver (36 years). Also leaves behind brothers, Robert (Jeanne) Berkeland & Harold (Marion) Berkeland; sisters, Virginia Berkeland & Iola Kalvig; six children, Don (Lynn) Wills, Douglas (Tammy) Wills, Thomas Wills, Clayton (Denise) Kienholz, Nancy Wilson, Linda (Greg) Wilson. Also a son, David, preceded her in death along with one great-grandson, Noah; one brother, Marvin; and one sister, Irene. She also leaves twenty-two grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She loved to be called 'grandma'. She loved her family. She had a priority in life of knowing God's Word for her life and it showed in her teaching young lives in her church affiliation and in her Gideon Auxiliary membership. She was in her 16th year as volunteer spiritual life personnel at Skagit Valley Hospital. All this but not at the expense of being the wife, mother, and kindergarten teacher God called her to be. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 1pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 1825 E. College Way, Mount Vernon. Expressions of love to the one that LOVED YOU may be given in Doris' honor to the Gideons International or your charity of choice. Arrangements are under care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA.
