Susan Malinda Tyler, 61, Clear Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999 at Muse Norris Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa. Memorial services were held Monday, Jan. 25, at the St. John’s Episcopal Church with Father Robert Towner officiating. Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements. The body was cremated. Memorials may be made to the Susan Tyler Memorial Fund.

Susan was born Oct. 4, 1937 in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter of Galen and Kathryn (Shannon) Hauge. She attended school in Hayfield, Iowa, and graduated in 1955, then attended Hamilton Business College in 1956. She worked at Allied Mills as executive secretary to General Manager for two years. Susan married John Tyler in 1958, and to this marriage three sons were born. Susan attended and graduated from I.A.C.C.C. in Ft. Dodge, Iowa as a registered nurse. She traveled for 10 years as a traveling nurse. In 1991 she became a staff nurse at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in its prison ward and PVS unit. She returned to Iowa in 1993 due to poor health and has enjoyed her family, friends, church and many hobbies since that time. Susan was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Mason City, Iowa.

She is survived by three sons, William G. Tyler, Tim Tyler and his wife, Christi, and Rod Tyler and his wife, Veronica all of Clear Lake; her mother, Kathryn Koch, Clear Lake; her brothers, Gary Hauge and his wife, Merilouise, Ocala, Fla., and Anthony Hauge, Clear Lake; her sister, Cynthia Wolfram and her husband, Robert, Ventura, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father.
