August 20, 1956 ---- November 13, 1973

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull at 1:30 P.M. Friday, November 16, for Douglas Vander Ploeg, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Vander Ploeg of Doon, who was killed in a two-car collision near Sheldon on U.S. Highway 18. Services will be conducted by the Rev. John Fondse and burial will be in Hope Cemetery at Hull, Iowa

Young Vander Ploeg was born at Belmond, Iowa, August 20, 1956. He was a student at Western Christian High School in Hull and also attended classes at Northwest Iowa Vocational School in Sheldon. Survivors include his parents, two brothers, Bruce and Arlen, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Corwin Schaaf of McBain, Mich.; three step-brothers, Phillip, Palmer, and Preston Roskamp, all at home; two step sisters, Mrs. Arlan (Patricia) Moss of Sioux Center and Mrs. Leroy (Paula) Baatz of Des Moines; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Albert Vander Ploeg of Kanawha, and his maternal grandfather, Garret DeBruin, of Rock Valley.
