James Powell Wilimek, 77, passed away December 2, 2013 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Iles Dunn's Chapel. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service (10am) at the funeral home. Burial will be at 3pm, Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, Iowa.
James was born on November 13, 1936 in Des Moines, the son of Beth and Edward Wilimek. He graduated from Newton High School and Iowa State University. James served in the Air National Guard. James was married to Nella Sue Huntley and they had two children, James and Janella. James worked as a sales rep for Airvent for 30 years. On April 14, 1973 he was united in marriage to Kay Bell at the Little Brown Church in Nashua and they made their home in Des Moines. Together, James and Kay enjoyed gardening, fishing and antiquing. James was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching sporting events from his favorite chair.
James is survived by his wife, Kay; son, James (Kim) Wilimek of San Luis Obispo, CA; daughter, Janella (Keith) Ingle of Templeton, CA; five grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Melissa, Thomas and Madison; brother, Frank (Ruth) Wilimek of Tempe, AZ and sister, Louise Leutenegger of Mequon, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Frances Miller. Memorial contributions may be directed to John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines. Arrangements by Iles-Dunn's Chapel.
