CHARLES FOSS DIES; RITES WEDNESDAY

CLEAR LAKE - Charlie Foss, 90, 717 N. 11th St., died Monday in a Mason City nursing home where he had been since July. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ward Funeral Home with Dr. John DeLong of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Charles Frederick Foss was born Oct 8, 1875, at Behrensdorf, Germany, the son of Hans and Catharina (Hansen) Foss. He came at age 10 with his parents to the United States, settling at Ackley and later moving to a Belmond farm. He was married to Ida Adams at Mason City July 21, 1921, and their home at Bayside, where he operated the merry-go-round and a restaurant for many years. He retired in 1944. Mr. and Mrs. Foss entered the Americana Nursing Home, where she will continue to make her home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Albert (Ella) Bohning, Wayzata, Minn. There are five nieces and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers are Nick Litzel, Wayne Wood, Marshall Friest, Robert Findson, John V. Bohning, Henry Goranson, Arthur Stoltz and Keith McGowan. Mrs. Henry Volstad is organist and Mrs. L.M. Treloar soloist.
