Lorin D. Fjetland, age 87, of Apache Junction, Arizona and Belmond passed away Thursday September 5, 2013 at the Greenfield House in Mesa, Arizona. Funeral services for Lorin D. Fjetland will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday September 10, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Belmond. Pastor Cindy Morrison will officiate. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be provided by the Belmond Honor Guard. Visitation for Lorin D. Fjetland will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Monday Septermber 9, 2013 at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Lorin Darwin the son of Dan and Sadie VanBuskirk Fjetland, was born October 28, 1928 near Rowan. He grew up in the Rowan and Goodell area, graduating from Goodell High School. Lorin entered the U.S. Navy, and upon returning from basic training married Avis Ellingston at St Olaf Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with two sons, Ronald and Dennis. Lorin was united in marriage to Marcella H. TerBeek Smith. They made their home in Britt and Belmond area. Lorin operated Fjetland Pest Control for 40 years. He eventually either turned over or started second and third generations of his family in that business. Lorin and Marcella retired to Apache Junction in 2010. Lorin enjoyed golf, hunting, boating, and playing “Mexican Train” dominos.

​Lorin is survived by his wife, Marcella; sons Ronnie (Candi) of Lake Cornelia and Dennis (Mary) of Clarion; step children Sandy (Kent) Lester and Dan (Paula) Smith; grandchildren Danny, Mark, Valerie and Buffy; step grandchildren Kevin, Eric, Ashly and Carly; siblings Eldon Fjetland of Riceville, Donna Johnson of Meservey, Larry (Ruby) Fjetland of Edgewood, AR, Vivian (Delbert) Pals of Belmond, Judy Peil and friend Robert Modderman of Alexander, and Betty and Scott Dungey of Osage. ​He was preceded in death by his sister Lila; and brothers Dale, Darold, Donald and Danny.
