HAMPTON, IA — Jennie Warschkow, age 93, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Surls Funeral Home Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 9, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden, with burial at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.
Jennie Warschkow, the daughter of Andrew Kruger and Jennie Miller, was born July 28, 1920, in Ackley. She attended school in rural Ackley, graduating from the eighth grade. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden. Jennie was united in marriage to Paul Warschkow on February 10, 1945, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church parsonage in Alden. Virgil and Margaret Caruth stood up with them at the wedding. They were married 66 years.
Jennie and her husband, Paul, farmed together in the Iowa Falls-Hubbard-Alden area until 1969, when they moved to Dougherty and continued farming until retirement. During the retirement years they lived in Belmond, Alden, then near family in Ankeny and Hampton. Jennie treasured her relationship with her savior, Jesus Christ, and she was blest by the love of her husband and her family. She found joy being housewife and farm wife to Paul. Jennie had a great memory and enjoyed sharing stories about her early life and family. She was a good cook and enjoyed the company of friends and relatives.
Jennie is survived by daughters, Paulette Johnson and husband, Marlin, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Pam Washington and husband, Edward, of Ankeny, Peggy Walsh and husband, Thom, of Hampton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Jesse Wolf and his wife, Torrie, Matthew Wolf and his wife, Nicole and their twins Michael and Madison, Lucas Johnson and his wife Ryanne, their daughter Ever and son Johan Virgil, Teresa Layland (Washington) and her husband Chad, Tom Washington and his wife Karrie and their children Zach, Taylor, and Brooklyn, Andre Fristo, Miles Fristo; sister Agnes Pieper of Dallas; brother Frank in Cameron, Wisconsin; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Andrew, Dick, Jake, Herman and Roy; and sisters, Etta, Mydena, Helen and Grace. Surls Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
