GARNER — Steven A. Claude, 64, of Garner died Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 9, at the United Methodist Church in Garner with the Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Corwith Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Steven Claude Memorial Fund.
Steven Allen Claude, the son of Walter and Rena (Adreon) Claude, was born June 14, 1949, at Mason City. He graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1967 and continued his education at NIACC where he received an associate's degree in agriculture. On August 9, 1969, he married Kristena Bradwell at the United Presbyterian Church in Garner. They made their home in Garner where they raised their two children, Sarah and Steven. Steve worked at Hancock County Co-Op Oil in Garner from 1969 to 1979 and then operated Steve's Standard for a few years. He also sold Husqvarna chain saws and operated G & G Lawn Service in Garner. He worked the past thirty years at IMT as a supervisor.
On February 1, 1998, he married Nora Wood. They lived in Garner until moving to their acreage north of Garner twelve years ago. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, gardening and taking care of his John Deere lawn equipment. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garner and was one of the founding members of the Garner Volunteer Ambulance Service in 1974.
Steve is survived by his wife, Nora, of Garner; his mother, Rena Claude Freiberg of Garner; two children, Sarah (Stacy) Datema of Garner and their three children, Kylee, Tucker and Karter, and Steven E. (Teresa) Claude and their soon-to-be- born baby Claude; a step-son, Sean (Jodi) Kenneally of Grimes and their two children, Bailey and Avery; a sister, Nancy (Jim) Haan of Garner; a brother, Tony (JoAnn) Claude of Heron Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter in 1984; and former wife, Kristena in 1992. Cataldo Funeral Home.
