PETER CLAUDE DIES AT 61

Peter Claude, 61, died Wednesday evening at 9:15 at the Hamilton County hospital following a heart attack suffered at his home last Sunday. He had been in ill health the past two years. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Foster funeral home with the burial being in Graceland cemetery.

Peter Claude, son of Charles and Jennie Carpenter Claude was born Jan. 24, 1906, on a farm in Wright county near Woolstock. He received his education in the rural schools near Woolstock and grew to young manhood in that community. He was united in marriage Jan. 9, 1924, to Hazel Mae Frakes, and the couple farmed near Woolstock until 1944, moving then into Webster City where they resided for one year. In 1945, they moved to a farm near Williams, Iowa. They made their home until their retirement in December, 1966, moving back to Webster City to their home at 1117 Kathy Lane.

He is survived by his wife; three sons and one daughter, Virgil Claude and Forrest Claude, both of Webster City; Ordean Claude of Ellsworth and Mrs. Edward (Eulalie) Hall of Jewell, nine grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Harry Claude, Jewell, Arthur Claude, Clarion, Mrs. Sophie Mourlam, Webster City, Mrs. Sadie Downing, Clarion, and Mrs. Eva Croxell, Denison, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Charles Clabaugh, Estherville, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Claude was preceded in death by one daughter, Thelma, who died at the age of 10 months; by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
