Sarah Bernice Horstman was born June 2, 1908 at Woden, Iowa, the daughter of Herman A. and Ada K. O'Brien Horstman. She was educated at Britt, Iowa. Sarah was united in marriage to Emery Eittreim of Eagle Grove, at Eagle Grove, in 1927 where they lived until his death in 1955. She remained in Eagle Grove, until marrying Ralph Rasmussen of Goldfield on June 2, 1956, at Clarion, Iowa. The couple made their home in Goldfield until Mr. Rasmussen's death in 1980. Sarah had lived in Waterloo until recently, having just returned to Eagle Grove shortly before her death on Friday, Oct. 2. She became ill before the Homecoming Parade in Eagle Grove, and was taken to Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge. She died enroute to the hospital. At the time of her death, she had attained the age of 73 years, 4 months.

She is survived by her children: sons Calvin Eittreim, Waterloo, Iowa; Maynard Eittreim, Eagle Grove, Daughters: Edna (Mrs. Thomas Arne, Sr.) Eagle Grove; and Mrs. Verna Crane, Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, Evelyn Keller Ames, Iowa and Elva Horstman, Mason City, Iowa. Also 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, four brothers; Russell, James, Donald, and LeRoy Horstman.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 6, 1981, at the Park Church of Christ, Goldfield, Iowa. Rev. Kim Nelson officiated, and the time of services was 2 p.m. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield, Iowa, Kastler-Babcock Services was in charge of arrangements.
