Beisell Passes away at the Home of His Daughter

Jacob Beisell, who has been making his home for years past with his daughter, Mrs. W. V. Polmateer, passed quietly away at the Polmateer home Tuesday. Mr. Beisell was perhaps the oldest man here, born February 7, 1817, in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and died May 16th, 1905, making him 88 years, 3 months, and 9 days old. In early manhood he left the scenes of his early home for Ohio where he met the young lady who afterwards become his wife. To this happy union were born seven children, five whom survive the father. Later they moved to Janesville, Wisconsin where they lived for a time. They afterwards went back to Ohio, where they lived until 1865. Then they moved to Belmond, Wright County, Iowa, and from there to Luni, where the wife died some seventeen years ago. Mr. Beisell has made his home with his daughter for the last fifteen years. His declining years have been more or less painful and has necessitated constant care during the last years of his life. The end came Tuesday, and was awaited with no fear Mr. Beisell being a Christian fully prepared for the calling. He was a member of the Baptist church . The funeral services were held at the Polmateer home, Rev. McKenna conducting the services and interment took place in the Luni cemetery along side the wife who had preceded him to the great beyond. Besides a sister living in Pennsylvania, five children survive him.
