August 11, 1850 --- August 15, 1921

Gabriel Blesie passed away at 11 o'clock Monday, the 15th of August, at Rochester, Minn. He was born at Kanton, Glarus, Switzerland, August 11, 1850, where he spent his boyhood years until when he came to America and settled in Ohio. In 1878 he was united in marriage with Anna Friday (sic) [should be Freitag] and to this union was born eight children, five sons and three daughters, one daughter, Anna passing away in infancy and one son, Edward in 1914. His loving wife, Jacob, and Mrs. Perry Engstrom of Kasson, Minn., Rudolph, William and Henry of Renwick and Mrs. Maie Wilson of Texas live to mourn his loss, also one brother of Dayton, Ohio, and two brothers in Switzerland. The first four years they resided in Wisconsin, then moving to Renwick, Iowa, where they lived until three years ago when they went to reside with their daughter at Kasson, Minn. At an early age Mr. Blesie joined the German Reform Church of which he remained a member until death claimed him. He was a faithful husband and father and beloved by all who knew him. He was also a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge. Funeral services were conducted from the Evangelical church by Rev. Schlesselman of Meservey. Beautiful floral designs expressed loving tribute from those who gave. He was laid to rest in the Vernon cemetery.
