January 2, 1871 ---- October 12, 1931

Martin Baumgartner was born January 2, 1871, in Canton Glarus, Switzerland, and passed away at his
home near Renwick to His eternal reward October 12, 1931, at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 10 days. At the age of 19 years he came to America and settled near Monticello, Wis., where he was united in marriage to Fannie Hammerly. In 1894 they came to Renwick where they settled on their farm northwest of town which has been their home ever since.

To this union were born three children, one son and two daughters, John of Renwick, Mrs. Paul Altman of Humboldt, and Mrs. Jim Kelling of Renwick. He leaves to mourn his departure a loving wife, one son two daughters, three grand-daughters, one sister in the old country, and a host of friends. In early youth he was baptized and joined the Swiss Reformed church; After moving to Renwick he transferred his membership to the Evangelical church of which he remained a true and faithful member until his sudden death. He held the office of trustee of the church since 1915. Sunday morning he was in his usual place at the church and enjoyed the Rally Day program and was seemingly in good health until Monday afternoon when he passed unexpectedly into the great beyond.

Mr. Baumgartner was a loving husband, a tender father and a true friend, He will be greatly missed but our loss will be his eternal gain.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the house and at two o'clock at the
Evangelical church. Burial was made in the Baumgartner cemetery. Among the relatives and friends who were here from a distance to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hammerly and son Joseph, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Knoble and son Raymond, of Gays Mills, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Shanfield of Alta Vista, Iowa.
