April 26, 1847 --- April 7, 1930

Mrs. Barbara Elmer, nee Stauffacher, was born April 26, 1846, in Matt, Canton Glarus, Switzerland, and passed to her eternal reward, April 7th, 1930 at Hebron, North Dakota, at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 11 days. She was united in marriage with Deidrick Elmer in the year 1865. This union was blessed with nine children. They came to this country in 1867, and located at Monroe, Wis., at which place they lived three years. In 1870 they came to Iowa where they made their home until 1886. From here they moved to Hebron, North Dakota, where she lived to the day of her departure. She was converted in 1866 and joined the Evangelical church and was a faithful and active member to the end of her earthly career.

Her husband and four children preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure, four sons, John, Henry and Joe of Hebron, N. D., and Conrad of Renwick, Ia., one daughter, Mrs. Diedrick Elmer of Renwick, 28 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the Evangelical church on Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Haehlen, and burial was made in the Baumgartner cemetery west of Renwick.
