April 12, 1866 --- April 25, 1949

Conrad Elmer, son of Dietrich and Barbara Stauffacher Elmer, was born at Matt, Canton Glarus, Switzerland, April 12, 1866. He came to the United States with his parents when he was four years old and they settled on the present homestead near Renwick where he farmed all his life. He also had a cheese factory and a creamery on his farm. On May 31, 1890 Conrad Elmer and Anna Elmer were united in marriage. God Blessed this marriage with five daughters.

Conrad Elmer passed to his heavenly Home on April 25, 1949 at 4:30 p.m. from the Mercy Hospital at Fort Dodge, Iowa. Those who preceded him in death include his cherished wife, Anna, his parents, three sisters and one brother. Those who live to mourn his passing include his five daughters, Mrs. Barbara Hoesly of Creston, Nebraska; Mrs. Marie Blesie of Des Moines; Mrs. Anna Baumgartner of Renwick; Mrs. Helen Smith of Des Moines; and Mrs Rachel French of Renwick; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers: John, Henry, and Joseph of Hebron, North Dakota; one sister, Mrs. Barbara Elmer of Renwick; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
