DENVER, Colo. — Elda Mathey, 92, of Denver, CO, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Geitz officiating. Interment will be held in North Lawn Cemetery.

Elda Martha Mathey was born August 1, 1915, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Helena Moench Mathey. She was baptized into the Christian faith on August 15, 1915 by the Rev. M.J. Von der Au, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge, and confirmed there on March 24, 1929. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and graduated June, 1929 and from Ft. Dodge High School, June, 1933. She was employed by Montgomery Ward and the National Gypsum Company until she moved to Denver, CO in September, 1949. For many years, she was employed by a building material wholesaler, and for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1983, by the International CPA Firm, Deloitte, Haskins and Sells as executive secretary and administrative assistant. Elda was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Denver, the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Auxiliary and various other civic organizations. She was a 23 year hospital volunteer and also for many years a volunteer for Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.

Elda is survived by her brother Donald (Arlene) Mathey, Fort Dodge; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father in 1951, her mother in 1982, and her sister Mildred Schroeder. Memorials may be left to St Paul’s Church and School.
