Janice Lynette Johnson — Austin

The memorial service for Janice Lynette Johnson will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second St. N.W. in Hayfield, with the Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.

Janice Lynette Johnson, 60, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, in Austin, Minnesota. Janice was born July 9, 1953, in Hayfield, to Richard and Marie (Hartle) Johnson. Jan was the fourth of five children. Richard Johnson, Jan's father, was born April 26, 1923, in Kanawha, Iowa. He passed away in September of 2005. Marie Hartle Johnson, Jan's mother, was born in Steele County. Janice attended special education classes and graduated with the Hayfield Class of 1971. Janice resided in group homes in Austin and most recently in Elmwood and Birchwood. Janice enjoyed crafts, sports, TV shows, music and dining out.

Janice is survived by her mother, Marie Johnson of Rochester; sisters, Patricia (Ronald) Petit of Rochester and Lori (Ron Lahr) French of Hopkinton, Iowa; nephews, Phillip Richards of Davenport, Iowa, and Lane French of Iowa City, Iowa; and a niece, Abby French of Iowa City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father; one brother and one sister. The family extends a special thank you to the Elmwood Staff, Birchwood Staff and Mayo Hospice for their loving care.
