September 13, 1933 ---- August 13, 2013

Helen Corrine Acord

After a courageous battle with esophagus cancer and surrounded by family members Helen left to be with our heavenly father early Monday morning. She was born in 1933 in Kanawha, Iowa and moved with her family to Yakima in 1945. She graduated from Yakima High in 1951. She married Carl "Scotty" Brian and together they had four children, Narda Sausser (Steve), Nancy Lemaster (Mel), Sheryl Blanchard (Mark), Martin Brian (Julie). Helen was a strong and courageous woman she battled breast cancer in 1979 and survived.

She loved her children, grandchildren, and extended family very much as witnessed by her refrigerator that served as a photo journal for her family. She loved to work in her yard and always looked forward to it. Her flower gardens were full of life and beautiful color, just as she was. Helen was a gifted clown in her later years, along with her dear friend Merletta Roberts and the rest of the First Baptist Church Clown Ministry. There was hardly a stranger in Helen's life for she befriended all. She touched many lives and made the world a better place simply with her presence.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Clara and James Jackson, her sisters Velda and Janice, brothers Albert, Gerald, Arnold, and Jay, husbands David Hayes and Jack Acord. She is survived by her children, Narda Sausser (Steve), Nancy Lemaster (Mel), Sheryl Blanchard (Mark), Martin Brian (Julie), 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, her brother Leonard Jackson, and her sisters Celia Cantrell and Sharon Landon.

A viewing will be held on Thursday August 15, 2013 from 4pm-8pm at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday August 16th at 3:00 pm. Keith and Keith will be in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be made to The First Baptist Church Clown Troop "Laffing Matters" or Memorial Hospital Hospice.
