After graduation, Charles enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during WW II as a Yeoman on the battleship USS Wren. After his honorable discharge Charles was united in marriage to June Dorn on March 22, 1952 at Ft. Dodge. The couple lived and farmed the family farm all their married lives. June passed away in December of 1991. Charles continued to live on the family farm until shortly before his passing. In addition to farming, Charles worked for 31 years at U.S.G. in Ft.
