GARDEN CITY — Donald E. Peterson, 95, Garden City, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in a care center at Bryant. Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Glenview Cemetery at Goldfield, Iowa. The Rev. Christine Perkins will officiate. There will be no visitation. Among survivors are his wife, Marian and stepdaughter, Sue (Rich) Foster, both of Garden City. The Furness Funeral Home of Clark is in charge of arrangements.

Donald E. Peterson, 95, of Garden City, SD, formerly of Goldfield, IA, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Bryant Parkview Care Center, in Bryant, SD. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield, IA, with Reverend Jason Cooper officiating.

Donald Edwin Peterson was born on March 4, 1918 at Vincent, IA, the son of George and Gertrude (Welch) Peterson. He attended country school near Vincent. He started farming with his father when he finished school and took over the family farm after his father’s passing. He retired from full time farming in 1993, but continued to help on the farm for several years. He spent his winters in Mission, TX. While there, he met and was later united in marriage to Marian Duncan, on April 22, 1995 in Henry, SD. They lived in Iowa and continued to winter in Texas until health problems brought them to Garden City, SD, where they could live closer to family.

He was a member of Goldfield Methodist Church. One of his greatest enjoyments was chopping wood to have fires almost year round. He also enjoyed fishing, shuffling and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Peterson, of Garden City, SD; his step children, Jim (Arlene) Duncan, of Oconto Falls, WI, Steve Duncan, of Webster, WI, Janet (Vince) Quast, of Shakopee, MN, Donald (Michelle) Duncan, of Vadnais Heights, MN, Sue (Rich) Foster, of Garden City, SD, eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
