February 28, 1921 ---- April 22, 2013

Josephine Robuck was born on Feb. 28, 1921, in Holmes, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Johanna (Krogevold) Espeland. She grew up in Holmes and graduated from Vernon High School. Josephine was united in marriage to Lawrence Wilson Robuck on Oct. 22, 1938, in Bethany, Mo. The couple lived in Hardy, Iowa, for a short time before moving to Knoxville. She lived in her current house for 70 years, where she raised her five children.

Josephine was a homemaker, but she also upholstered furniture for many people in the area. She was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene, serving on the church board, as a Sunday School teacher, and she and her husband drove the church bus for 35 years. She loved to sing, starting the group, Josephine & Friends and later the Gospel Echos, for 40 years. Her group sang at many nursing homes and other gatherings. Josephine enjoyed volunteering; lending a hand anywhere she was needed. She also liked to give out her black raspberry jelly and kringla cookies.

Josephine passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at her daughter's home in Knoxville at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Lawrence; brothers, Henrey and Arthur Espeland; and sisters, Agnas Erickson and Bernice Kallem. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Lila (Butch) Smith, Joan Bousquet (Duane Weilnau), Ruby (Larry) Dursky, Larry (Carol) Robuck and Karen Baxter, all of Knoxville; sister, Adeline Pope of Knoxville; 22 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Friday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Knoxville. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene or to HCI Care Services.
