WINAMAC, Ind. — Mary Jane Barber, 71, of Winamac and formerly of New Buffalo, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind.

Mary Jane was born August 10, 1941 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa , to Charles and Lucille (Werling) Brown. After graduating from high school in Renwick, Iowa, she attended Beauty School. On May 1, 1961, Mary Jane married Ralph Barber in Chamberlain, South Dakota. They spent 52 wonderful years together. She lived in New Buffalo for 35 years and owned Mary's Beauty Box, cutting and styling hair. She worked at New Buffalo Township for many years. Mary Jane loved to read, raise orchids, and work in her flower gardens. She was a devoted fan at her son's sports games and enjoyed the many camping trips with her family. Mary Jane liked people, and was always there for people in need.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph; sons, Mark (Emily) Barber of Three Oaks, and Scott Barber of Weirsdale, Fla.; grandchildren, David, Jessica, Scotty, Kaley and Sydney; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Aleah, and Aubrianna; a sister, Linda McCormak, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and brother Llewellyn Brown of Algona, Iowa.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Pobocik Funeral Home in Three Oaks with Mr. Garry Lange as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Garden in Michigan City, Ind. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 27, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
